What Zelnick actually said

Speaking to Variety, the Take-Two CEO was clear on timing: "The next few weeks I don't think it'll be summertime yet, but when it's summertime, Rockstar expects to start marketing GTA 6." In other words: no campaign before calendar summer, which begins June 21. GTA 6 marketing has not started yet, but it is imminent.

It is the first time an executive has framed the start of the campaign so clearly. Until now, every date the community floated (May 12, 15, 21) rested on theories. This time, it is Take-Two leadership talking.

Why late June / early July

At Rockstar, a big game's marketing almost always opens with a trailer. And at Take-Two, preorders open in step with that campaign launch. Crossing Zelnick's statement (summer) with those habits, the most cited window for Trailer 3 is June 25 to July 8, 2026. Nothing official on the exact day, but the frame is now set.

Trailer 3 and preorders: the same moment

On the May 21 earnings call, Zelnick had already confirmed preorders opening in summer 2026. Everything points to Trailer 3 and preorders landing together: the trailer is the commercial kickoff. And the PC version?

Take-Two's official release table lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. No PC date has been announced. Rockstar is following the GTA V pattern, which reached PC about 18 months after consoles. A PC version is likely, but later.
