What Zelnick Actually Said About November 19

The exact quote: "We feel really good about it"

Zelnick did not hedge. In comments to IGN following the May 21 earnings call, he said:

"I've said for some time the release date is November 19. We've obviously reiterated that today, so we feel really good about it." Strauss Zelnick · IGN, Q4 FY2026 earnings call · May 21, 2026

Take-Two has reiterated the November 19, 2026 date across multiple investor communications since it was set. Each time, the answer has been the same date.

If you have been watching since Trailer 1 dropped and counting the months since the first delay: this is the floor. Zelnick treats the date as settled.

Why Take-Two rules out any delay

The short version: the financial stakes are too high for any more movement.

Take-Two's FY2027 guidance sits at approximately $8 billion in net bookings. That number does not work without GTA 6 shipping on time. The game represents the largest single revenue event in the company's history. Every investor on that call understood this. Zelnick's confidence was not reassurance theater. It was the CFO-level position.

Two prior delays already happened. Rockstar pushed the window twice while finalizing the build. Per the Q4 transcript (Motley Fool, May 21, 2026), Zelnick confirmed that Rockstar now expects to begin promoting GTA VI this summer, parallel with preorders. That sequencing, marketing launch tied to preorder window, does not happen on a project still in flux.

No delay. The machine is running.

GTA 6 Preorders Opening This Summer: Everything Known

Take-Two confirmed on the May 21 earnings call that preorders will open this summer. The exact month was not specified.

The preorder window and the marketing ramp-up start at the same time. When Rockstar begins its campaign, you will be able to reserve your copy. That is the framework Zelnick set.

Summer 2026 window: reading between the lines

"Summer" in corporate calendar terms runs June through August. For a November 19 launch, a June or July preorder opening aligns with standard retailer windows: 90 to 120 days out from street date. That math points to July or August as the most probable months, with June possible but tight.

Nothing official. This is pattern recognition from prior Rockstar launches and standard retail scheduling. When the announcement comes, it will come from Rockstar Newswire.

The Best Buy May 18 email: what Zelnick said about it

On May 18, Best Buy sent an email suggesting GTA 6 preorders were opening. They were not. No preorders went live.

Asked about it on the earnings call, Zelnick said he does not know the origin of that email. That is not a denial of the summer window. It is a statement that the Best Buy communication was not coordinated with Take-Two or Rockstar.

The summer preorder window remains confirmed. The Best Buy email was early, not predictive. For the full timeline of that leak and its context, see our GTA 6 Best Buy preorder leak breakdown.

Confirmed Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X, PC Still Unconfirmed

GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is the confirmed scope for November 19, 2026.

PC was not mentioned in the Take-Two Q4 FY2026 earnings communication. It has not been confirmed by Rockstar for the launch window. Based on Rockstar's prior release strategy (GTA V PC came 18 months after console launch, RDR2 PC came 12 months after console), a PC version exists as a reasonable inference. It is not a confirmed fact.

If you are on PC: nothing to preorder yet. If you are on PS5 or Xbox Series X, your window is this summer.

Take-Two Q4 FY2026 Earnings: The Numbers That Matter for GTA 6

These figures come from the Take-Two Interactive Q4 FY2026 earnings release published May 21, 2026.

Net bookings, EPS, FY2027 guidance: quick read

MetricResultContext
Net bookings Q4 FY26$1.58 billionAbove the high end of guidance ($1.51-$1.56B)
GAAP revenue Q4 FY26$1.58 billionSlightly below analyst estimate ($1.60B)
EPS Q4 FY26$0.80 per shareAbove the $0.58 estimate
Net bookings FY26 (full year)$6.72 billionAbove annual guidance
FY27 net bookings guidanceApproximately $8 billionBuilt on GTA 6 shipping in November 2026

For the full fiscal year FY2026, recurrent consumer spending grew 17% year over year and represents 78% of total net bookings. FY2027 guidance: approximately $8 billion in net bookings. This is the number built on GTA 6 shipping on November 19.

GTA Online up 5% in Q4: the engine is running

GTA Online recurrent consumer spending grew 5% in Q4 FY2026. In the thirteenth year of GTA V's commercial life, the multiplayer still posts positive growth. NBA 2K franchise recurrent spending grew 30%, with NBA 2K26 selling over 10 million units.

Two signals here. First, Take-Two's live service infrastructure is working. Second, the audience that will migrate from GTA Online to GTA 6 on day one is active and engaged. The transition from GTA V to GTA 6 is not a cold start. It is a sequel into a warm user base.

GTA 6 Price: Still No Word from Rockstar

Zelnick refused to disclose the price on the earnings call. Per the Motley Fool transcript of May 21, 2026, he was explicit that he would not guide on pricing for any upcoming release.

Rockstar has not published an official price on Newswire. No price announcement has been made as of May 22, 2026.

Industry pricing context: PS5 first-party titles in 2025-2026 have launched at $69.99 to $79.99. GTA 5 launched at $59.99 in 2013. Based on this pricing context, independent observers and gaming outlets have placed GTA 6 in the $70 to $80 range for the standard edition, with a premium edition expected above that based on prior Rockstar release patterns. No analyst firm has formally confirmed this range. No official price has been announced. When Rockstar confirms a price, it will appear on the Rockstar Newswire.

Why Pre-Order GTA 6 on Amazon Right Now

Preorders are not open yet. But the summer window is confirmed. Here is why it matters to be ready.

Amazon pre-orders for major releases lock in the launch-day price at the time of reservation. If the price increases between preorder opening and shipping, you pay the lower price. Amazon charges nothing until the order ships.

For physical editions: day-one delivery requires a preorder. Waiting until November means waiting on stock and shipping lag. For a game this size, stock pressure on physical copies is real.
